About the role
The Management Accountant plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely management information, ensuring compliance with statutory and tax requirements, and supporting decision-making across the business.
This role takes ownership of the month-end close process, production of management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, partners with our Tax and Treasury lead to help with VAT and international tax compliance, while also working closely with FP&A and the wider finance team to drive continuous improvement in processes, systems, and reporting.
A detail-oriented approach, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines are essential. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing routine processes with opportunities to improve efficiency and add value to the business.
What you’ll do
Month-End Close & Management Reporting
- Lead the month-end close process, including prepayments, accruals, deferred income, and adjustments.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, board reports, and overhead cost analysis.
- Own and prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Work closely with the FP&A team to contribute to forecasts and ensure consistent, high-quality financial information.
Compliance & Tax
- Produce VAT returns and ensure accurate VAT treatment.
- Manage international tax, VAT, and PAYE compliance with assistance from third-party providers.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual business surveys as required.
Operational Support
- Prepare monthly/quarterly sales commission calculations.
- Assist with statutory accounts and year-end audit preparation, leading internal data collection efforts.
- Identify and implement improvements to systems, processes, and controls.
- Build and maintain strong internal relationships across the business.
- Provide general finance team support as required.
What we’re looking for
- Part qualified, finalist, or newly qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a finance role with proven management accounts experience, including variance analysis and stakeholder reporting.
- Technology/software industry experience preferred but not essential.
- Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel (pivots, lookups).
- Solid bookkeeping and double-entry accounting knowledge.
